Echeveria Trompette
The plant likes a sunny location.
Water a few days after the substrate has dried out. Reduce watering in winter.
It can withstand temperatures as low as -3.9 °C for short periods. However, the plant is not frost-resistant.
The underside of the leaves has an irregular longitudinal protrusion that visually divides the leaves and gives them an interesting texture.
Echeveria Trompette is a rarer hybrid bred in nurseries. It belongs among the more unusual Echeveria cultivars, valued mainly for its distinctive leaf shape and changing colours.
The leaves are fleshy, elongated ovate, with a stretched form that widens towards the tip and ends in a small point. Colour varies with leaf age: older leaves tend to be dark green, while younger ones may develop purplish-pink tones. On the underside of each leaf there is an irregular longitudinal ridge, which is characteristic of this cultivar. The plant forms a compact rosette arranged in spirals, reaching up to about 12 cm in height and around 20 cm in diameter.
The flowers are typical of the genus Echeveria, bell-shaped and produced on taller flower stalks on mature plants.
Echeveria Trompette is easy to grow in a very bright position, ideally in full sun. For stronger growth it is best repotted into a larger container over time, as plants kept in small pots remain much smaller. Water only several days after the soil has completely dried out, and fertilising is usually not recommended. If you are looking for an Echeveria with an unusual leaf structure, Trompette is a striking collector’s hybrid.
