Did you know?

This Echeveria originates from Mexico, specifically from areas near the Sierra Madre Oriental mountain range.

Echeveria schaffneri is a succulent named after the collector of this species. In its natural habitat, it grows in sandy and gravelly depressions at the foothills of mountains as well as on flat, dry plateaus west of the Sierra Madre Oriental range. These conditions correspond to open and well-drained environments.

The leaves show a slightly purplish tone and are narrowly lance-shaped, tapering from the center toward both ends and finished with a pointed tip. The rosette is smaller and irregular, with a sparse, sometimes “scruffy” appearance, as the leaves are not arranged tightly together.

The flowers are similar in form to those of other succulents. They appear on a flowering stem emerging from the rosette and add interest during the blooming period without changing the overall character of the plant.

For cultivation, a well-draining substrate and a bright position are suitable. Watering should be done carefully, allowing the substrate to dry between waterings so the succulent does not remain in prolonged moisture. With its naturally sparse habit, Echeveria schaffneri is an appealing choice for growers looking for a less common type of plant.
