Echeveria Red Velvet
Ideally, place in a sunny location. The plant can be kept outdoors during the summer.
Always water a few days after the substrate has dried out. Reduce watering in winter.
The plant is not frost-resistant.
The leaves have a delicate waxy surface and the edges often take on a red hue, giving the plant its characteristic velvety appearance.
Echeveria Red Velvet is likely a hybrid originating from South Korea. Its parentage is sometimes listed as Echeveria elegans Hyaliana crossed with another unknown Echeveria, although the exact origin is not clearly documented.
The plant has translucent pale green leaves with a thin waxy coating that gives it a soft frosted appearance. In strong sunlight, the coloration shifts into pink to red tones, with darker shades at the tips and in the center of the rosette. The leaves are triangular with slightly outward-pointing sharp ends, and their thick shape creates a compact growth form.
This cultivar does not commonly flower, so it is mainly grown for its foliage and changing coloration.
Echeveria Red Velvet is well adaptable and considered easy to grow with basic care. It thrives best in well-draining soil, does not require fertilizing, and its colors become most intense in a bright location. If you are looking for an Echeveria that develops strong red tones, this cultivar can be an interesting choice for a collection.
