The name Mebina comes from Japanese and refers to the doll of the empress displayed during the traditional Hinamatsuri festival.

Echeveria Mebina variegata is a variegated cultivar of the old Japanese hybrid Echeveria ‘Mebina’. The name “Mebina” comes from Japanese and refers to the empress doll displayed together with the emperor doll during Hinamatsuri, the traditional annual festival.

The plant forms compact rosettes that reach a diameter of around 10 cm when mature. As it grows, the rosettes gradually spread outward and develop into a denser clump. The leaves are fleshy and variegated, showing light yellowish to creamy tones with a variable proportion of green.

In spring, it produces yellow, bell-shaped flowers. These appear on slightly arching, leafy flower stalks typical of the genus Echeveria and create a clear contrast with the pale foliage.

This succulent prefers a bright position, a well-draining substrate, and careful watering with complete drying between waterings. As a houseplant, it looks best in summer and autumn, when the leaves become more yellow and develop pronounced red margins, making it a reliable and attractive choice for container growing.
