It can withstand temperatures as low as -3.9 °C for short periods. However, the plant is not frost-resistant.

Did you know?

This is a well-known hybrid, prized for its blue-gray, heavily waxed leaves.

Echeveria Blue-Bird is a hybrid created by Frank Reinelt, most likely resulting from a cross between Echeveria colorata and Echeveria desmetiana. It is a succulent bred with an emphasis on strong coloration and a well-defined, regular rosette shape.

The plant forms rosettes of fleshy, silvery blue leaves covered with a fine powdery coating. In autumn and winter, the leaves develop distinct pink margins that contrast with the pale surface of the leaf blade. The rosettes can reach a diameter of up to about 25 cm, but usually remain smaller in cultivation.

The flowers are pink to orange and appear in summer. They are borne on slender flowering stems that can reach a length of up to approximately 25 cm and rise above the leaf rosette.

For cultivation, a well-draining substrate and a bright position are suitable. Watering should be moderate, allowing the substrate to dry between waterings to prevent prolonged moisture. With its attractively frosted leaves and balanced growth, Echeveria Blue-Bird works well as a standalone succulent in a container.
