Echeveria Black Knight
The plant likes a sunny location. The plant can be grown outdoors in summer.
Always water a few days after the substrate has dried out. Reduce watering in winter.
It can withstand temperatures as low as -6.7 °C for short periods. However, the plant is not frost-resistant.
This is not a cultivar, but a particularly dark form of Echeveria affinis.
Echeveria Black Knight was collected by RJ Taylor in Mexico, where it was growing under shrubs and trees along the road between Mazatlán and Durango. It is not a hybrid, but an especially dark form of the variable species Echeveria affinis.
The plant forms rosettes of dark leaves that may vary slightly in shape. The leaves are arranged in a compact rosette, creating a low and well-defined growth habit.
During summer, the rosettes produce clusters of bell-shaped flowers. The flowers have a scarlet corolla and olive-green sepals and appear on flower stems that can grow up to approximately 15 cm tall.
For cultivation, it is suitable to use a well-draining substrate, choose a bright position, and adjust watering to current conditions and the plant’s growth. Echeveria Black Knight is a good choice for growers looking for a distinctly dark form of Echeveria.
