Dudleya greenei White Sprite
The plant likes sunny locations, but can also tolerate partial shade.
Always water a few days after the substrate has dried out. Reduce watering in winter.
It can withstand temperatures as low as -3.9 °C for short periods. However, the plant is not frost-resistant.
Its natural occurrence is limited to only one known location.
Dudleya greenei White Sprite appears under various names, including Dudleya gnoma, and among growers it is also known by the nickname Munchkin Liveforever. It is an endemic species native to Santa Rosa Island, one of the California Channel Islands. In the wild, it is known from only a single population containing approximately 3,200 plants. Although it is rare in its natural habitat, this Dudleya is cultivated by succulent enthusiasts.
The leaves can be green, reddish, or white and are covered with a powdery waxy coating. The plant forms compact rosettes that can reach up to 5 cm in diameter. It is a compact succulent with a caudex topped by a cluster of rosettes, giving it a low and solid growth habit.
The inflorescence can grow up to about 13 cm tall. The flowers are light yellow to bright yellow, sometimes orange.
When growing this plant, it is important to consider that it has partially winter growth. A well-draining substrate and a bright position are suitable, and watering should be adjusted to the growth cycle without keeping the substrate wet for long periods. Dudleya greenei White Sprite is a good choice for growers looking for a less common species for their collection.
