Ideally, place in a sunny location.

Always water a few days after the substrate has dried out. Reduce watering in winter.

It can withstand temperatures as low as -3.9 °C for short periods. However, the plant is not frost-resistant.

TIP for you:

Thanks to its caudex and delicate branching, it is suitable for shaping into bonsai form.

Delosperma bosseranum, also listed as Delosperma bosserianum, was described by Wessel Marais in 1979. It is native to Madagascar, where it grows in full sun in well-drained soil with very little available moisture.

The leaves are green and lance-shaped, with older leaves naturally drying out over time. The leaf surface has a subtle sparkling effect, as if covered with frost or tiny ice crystals, which is a characteristic feature of this species. The plant forms a caudex that may reach about 3 cm in thickness, and it grows to a height of around 15 cm.

The flowers are white and daisy-like, standing out clearly against the fleshy foliage and caudex.

Delosperma bosseranum is a drought-tolerant plant best grown in a very bright position with well-draining soil. Fertilising is not recommended. Because of its attractive caudex, it can also be cultivated with the base slightly raised above the substrate and shaped in a bonsai-like style, making it an appealing collector’s plant.
