Cremneria Expatriata is an intergeneric hybrid that combines characteristics inherited from both of its parent species.
Cremneria Expatriata is an intergeneric hybrid between Cremnophila linguifolia and Echeveria amoena subsp. microcalyx. It was originally classified as an Echeveria, but in 1975 Reid Moran transferred it to the hybrid genus ×Cremneria. It is appreciated for its compact rosette, pale coloration, and easy cultivation.
The plant forms a dense rosette of thick, spoon-shaped leaves covered with a delicate whitish farina. The leaves are usually bluish-grey to silvery green and may develop soft pink tones under strong sunlight or cooler temperatures. As the plant matures, the lower leaves gradually dry naturally while the rosette remains compact and symmetrical.
Flowers appear on slender stalks, usually in spring or early summer. They are tubular, with yellow to orange tones, and provide an attractive contrast to the pale foliage.
Cremneria Expatriata thrives in a bright location with plenty of sunlight, a well-draining substrate, and moderate watering only after the soil has dried completely. During winter, watering should be reduced significantly. Thanks to its compact growth, attractive leaf colours, and low maintenance requirements, it is an excellent choice for succulent collections as well as decorative container planting.
