Did you know?

The Latin word sericea means “silky” and refers to the fine hairs covering the leaves. These hairs give the plant its characteristic velvety appearance.

Crassula sericea Titan is a succulent from the Crassulaceae family. The species is native to Namibia and the northwestern part of South Africa, where it grows in dry habitats, often in rock crevices, and adapts to significant fluctuations in moisture.

This form stands out for its unusually shaped, thick and fleshy leaves, which curve gracefully and resemble small green paddles. The leaves are light green to grey-green, with a fine covering of hairs that gives them a soft, velvety appearance. Their tips may develop a subtle reddish tint. The plant grows slowly and forms compact clumps that highlight the distinctive shape and texture of its leaves.

Under suitable conditions, it produces small flowers arranged in clusters on upright flower stalks. In Crassula sericea, the flowers are white to creamy yellow, and flowering usually occurs during the cooler part of the year.

Crassula sericea Titan needs a very well-drained substrate and plenty of light. Water only after the substrate has dried out completely and avoid prolonged waterlogging. Good air circulation is beneficial, and the plant should be protected from persistently damp conditions. Its fleshy, velvety-looking leaves and unusual shape make it an attractive addition to any succulent collection.
