Crassula ovata Obliqua
The plant likes sunny locations, but can also tolerate partial shade. It can be grown outdoors in summer.
Water only several days after the substrate has completely dried out. Reduce watering during the winter months.
The plant is not frost-resistant.
In the Crassula ovata 'Obliqua' cultivar, the leaves are attached to the stem at a more upright angle than in the classic Crassula ovata.
Crassula ovata Obliqua is a form of Crassula ovata and is also listed under the synonym Crassula obliqua. It is commonly known in English as the Jade Plant or Jade Tree.
The plant grows as a succulent shrub with thick, fleshy green leaves ending in a distinct pointed tip. The leaves are attached to the stems at a more upright angle than in typical Crassula ovata. Under direct sunlight, the leaf margins develop purple coloration. It usually grows over 30 cm tall and has a relatively slow growth rate, slower than the standard form.
The flowers are star-shaped, white to pink, and appear in showy clusters at the ends of the branches. Flowering takes place from late winter to early spring.
Crassula ovata Obliqua is easy to grow, tolerates cooler conditions in winter, and can be occasionally fertilized during the growing season. If you are looking for a jade plant with a more upright leaf position and slower growth, this form is a suitable choice, and a variegated form is also available.
