Crassula falcata
The plant likes both sunny habitats and partial shade.
Always water a few days after the substrate has dried out. In winter, limit watering.
It can tolerate -3.9 °C in the short term. However, the plant is not hardy.
Even if the plant does not flower it is still attractive. However, if it produces bright red flowers, it will give many growers pause.
Crassula falcata, probably correctly called Crassula perfoliata var. minor, is a succulent plant with the nickname Propeller Plant. It is found on northern, eastern and western cliffs along dry river valleys in the Eastern Cape.
The grey-green leaves have occasional red or purple spots. They grow up to 10 cm long and 3 cm wide. The leaf tips sometimes dry naturally. The sickle-shaped leaves grow in overlapping pairs along the stems, which usually do not branch. They initially grow erect, later becoming drooping. In nature, the plant can reach a height of up to 60 cm.
The bright red, striking flowers appear in dense, conspicuous racemes rising above the leaves in summer. The flowers open slowly and last for almost a month.
It can be fertilised with cactus and succulent fertiliser. Crassula falcata is an unpretentious and hardy plant that is easy to grow. It often grows to a larger size, which will appeal to growers looking for more robust plants.
