Always water a few days after the substrate has dried out. Reduce watering in winter.
It can withstand temperatures down to -3.9 °C for short periods. However, the plant is not frost-resistant.
Red edges are most noticeable in strong light and on cooler nights.
Cotyledon undulata Red is a more compact form of Cotyledon undulata, distinguished by stronger red colouring along the leaf margins. The species is also known under the name Cotyledon mucronata. The nickname Silver Ruffles Plant refers to the typical wavy edges of its powdery, farinose leaves.
The plant has thick, white waxy-coated leaves in pale green to silvery tones, often resembling small shells. In the Red form, the leaf edges develop more pronounced red colouring. The leaves are wavy, fleshy, and gradually drop from the lower part of the stem, creating a firm, woody base and a shrubby growth habit.
In summer, hanging clusters of bell-shaped flowers may appear, usually in orange to red shades.
Cotyledon undulata Red is an easy succulent that prefers a very bright position and well-draining soil. Care should be taken to avoid overwatering, especially during the cooler part of the year. If you are looking for a Cotyledon with strongly rippled leaves and red-tinted margins, this compact form is an excellent choice for a collection.
