Ceropegia Merel
Partial shade is ideal for this plant, but it can also tolerate sunny locations.
Always water only after the substrate has dried out. Reduce watering in winter.
Temperatures should not fall below 4.4 °C. The plant is not frost-resistant.
It is adapted to dry conditions and can survive even longer periods without watering.
Ceropegia Merel is a variegated form of Ceropegia with elongated leaves and pale margins. It belongs among the trailing “candle plants” grown mainly for the delicate leaf pattern, which can vary slightly from plant to plant.
The leaves are narrow and elongated, green with distinct white edging. The plant produces thin, long cascading stems, making it ideal for hanging pots or for placing on the edge of a shelf where it can trail freely.
Flowers may appear in late summer or autumn. They have the typical “candle-like” shape characteristic of the genus Ceropegia and are a subtle but interesting feature on well-grown plants.
Ceropegia Merel grows best in a bright position with indirect light and well-draining soil. Watering should be done only several days after the substrate has completely dried out, helping the shoots stay firm and compact. If you are looking for a trailing Ceropegia with softly variegated, elongated leaves, Ceropegia Merel is a lovely choice for a collection.
