Anacampseros lanigera
The plant likes sunny locations and partial shade.
Always water a few days after the substrate has dried out. Reduce watering in winter.
It can withstand temperatures as low as -6.7 °C for short periods. However, the plant is not frost-resistant.
The hairs help protect the leaves from the sun and rapid drying out.
Anacampseros lanigera is a species grown for its very unusual appearance. It is easily recognized by the dense white woolly covering that envelops almost the entire above-ground growth.
The leaves are small, fleshy, and largely hidden beneath a thick layer of fine white fibers. These create a compact, felted appearance and help protect the plant from direct sunlight. The stem is short and thickened, with leaves packed closely together, giving the plant the look of a small, irregular cone or column.
The flowers are large and pink, borne on a tall flowering stalk. The plant is valued mainly for its distinctive foliage and woolly covering.
Anacampseros lanigera requires a well-draining substrate and a bright position. Watering should only be done after the substrate has dried, as it must not remain waterlogged for long periods. Thanks to its very compact size, it is well suited for small pots and for succulent collections focused on unusual species.
