TIP for you:

Aloe vera is one of the best-known plants used in folk medicine, primarily for the gel from its leaves, which is valued in cosmetics and skin care.

Aloe vera is the well-known “common aloe” and one of the most widely cultivated species of the genus. The epithet vera means “true” or “genuine” and refers to its status as the “true aloe.” It originally comes from the Hajar Mountains in northeastern Oman on the Arabian Peninsula, but today it grows naturally in tropical, subtropical, and dry climates around the world.

The plant produces thick, fleshy grey-green leaves with sparsely toothed margins. The leaves are upright, lance-shaped, and can reach up to about 60 cm in length and around 7 cm in width. Aloe vera forms stemless or short-stemmed rosettes and offsets freely at the base, gradually creating a clump of multiple rosettes.

The flowers are pendulous, with a yellow tubular corolla. They appear densely arranged on flower stalks that can grow up to about 90 cm tall. Flowering usually takes place in winter and spring.

Aloe vera has been used as a traditional medicinal plant in many cultures for thousands of years and is valued for the gel contained in its leaves. It is easy to grow, requiring a bright position, well-draining soil, and careful watering so the roots do not remain wet for long. The plants we offer are grown without chemical sprays. Aloe vera is a classic succulent that deserves a place in any collection.
