Aeonium Cupcake
The plant likes sunny locations, but can also tolerate partial shade.
Always water a few days after the substrate has dried out. Reduce watering in winter.
It can withstand temperatures down to -6.7 °C for short periods. However, the plant is not frost-resistant.
The name Cupcake refers to the shape of the rosette, which resembles a small cake.
Aeonium Cupcake belongs to cultivars of the genus Aeonium, whose species originate primarily from the Canary Islands. For the Cupcake cultivar, no specific information about its origin is known; it is grown for its balanced growth and regular rosette shape.
The plant forms a regular, flat rosette of green leaves. The leaves are flat, smooth, and densely arranged toward the center, giving the plant a clear and symmetrical appearance. The rosette grows on a gradually woody stem, which becomes more noticeable in older plants and creates a tree-like character.
The flowers correspond to the typical appearance of flowers of the genus Aeonium. They appear on a flower stalk emerging from the center of the rosette during the growing season.
For cultivation, a sunny position, a well-draining substrate, and watering adjusted to the plant’s growth are recommended, so that the substrate does not remain wet for long periods. Aeonium Cupcake works well as a solitary plant, where the shape of the rosette and the woody stem can fully stand out.
