Conophytum

Conophytum is a genus of small succulents in the Aizoaceae family, native to southern Africa. The plants form round or heart-shaped pairs of leaves that resemble pebbles and protect them from intense sunlight. They have a reversed growth cycle – growing during the cooler winter months and going dormant in summer.
